Sightseeing Tours in Lisbon

On my recent visit to Lisbon with our football team (16 adults), I organized a Sitgo tour of Alfama's old town. 11 of us presented for this excursion on a lovely Sunday morning in late March. I had booked on line and the Sitgo guys were very comfortable as I could not give exact numbers. We were given a 10 minute training slot and by 1130 we were accompanied by our guide Pepe and our cameraman Goncalo. It was the best fun trip I had experienced for some time while we wondered about the old town. Pepe was excellent with all his knowledge of Lisbon and we had time for a quick Chocolate and Liquor stop on our way. The fun was great and we even sang some song verses as we enjoyed our sitways. Basically just to explain a bit about the sitway these are a form of Sedgeways but here you are in a sitting position. They are easy to get used too and you will be up and running in no time. The highest speed is about 16 miles per hour and the hills of the old town were easily negotiated as we made our way to the gates of the street. George's castle. Finally, I don't think this would work without the excellent input from our Sitgo, Pepe and Gonçalo guides, who kept the whole 90 minutes relaxed and enjoyable and for € 25 of money well spent. We are a family of 4 and booked with SitGo weeks before arriving in Portugal; a decision we are so happy to have made. Ieda & John are wonderful guides; They kept us in their sights at all times of safety and connecting us every step of the way! Although the meeting was postponed to an unexpected road closure and they had to drive their van to us on a different route, we were able to keep each other posted via Wi-Fi, so you'd better have it on your phone. We had a lot of family and group fun with the guides. They are very knowledgeable with their history of places we stop at. Our only regret is that we no longer had time to walk in the Alfama / Fado district, especially the church. This is not the guides fault, but my just as instead of checking the interior of the church, I would have preferred to check out a pottery shop that we passed before arriving at the church :). . . We totally recommend this tour to everyone so it is very valuable for your time and money. We do not feel discomfort or pain throughout the next day either. . . a truly wonderful way to see parts of Lisbon and we want to repeat another SitGo experience in another city for sure! ! ! You go guys, you have a good product there! !

say a few. Equally important is the Paulo Guide and the Health of these horses. Before coming to Paul, I will just say that these horses were the healthiest horses from a visual and performative standpoint. That meant a lot to us because we are animal lovers.
Now Paulo! This man is genuine and considerate. He takes care of you all day and makes sure you have a super rewarding experience. The guy knows how to take care of people. He has a wealth of history and takes time to take you to a local market or two for some of the best-known road secrets. We both grabbed a pair of handmade shoes. Paul even pulled a few ropes and got us into a local food spot after the ride for some amazing fresh homestyle seafood. This was the best ride I've ever been anywhere, and Paul is the reason for that. Its crazy if you book with anyone else!

PS The beach you go to is like a private paradise. No joke

The tour far exceeded my expectations. The tour guide was knowledgeable, lively and very passionate about food and the neighborhood. I loved the area and different places she showed us and the food we ate. Part of our group met up again the next evening for dinner at the Mozambican restaurant. I definitely recommend the tour!

This was the best surprise of our trip! The social-anthropological side of visitng the beautifully painted housing councils project of the north of Lisbonne is definately something off the beaten track! Thanks to the tiger van and her fearless driver!!

If you like street art or if you are looking to discover about it, don’t miss this tour. Lisbon is full of incredible street art experience that are worth seeing. The guide was great and I really recommend it.

Portuguese people have beauty, art and poetry in their daily lives. And it looks like this has been the case for centuries as can be seen from the beauty of Sinta and the lyricism of Fado. But coming to a more younger form of art, Lisbon is bursting with young thinkers who are using the generations chosen form of art to express them selves. Mainly street art. The street art movement seems to have found a place there. And seems to be supported and appreciated as a form of beauty and only done as form of expression than its commercial value. The young artists in Lisbon have a lot to say and they leave it all on the walls. It also attracts some of the best street artiest from all around the planet. If you want to get to know Lisbon in its current form and see how the young see it I recommend you do the street art tour as it made me fall in love with the city and they young energy which it is holding. Thank you Lisbon for being so beautiful and a place for the free thinkers!

We booked the Campo de Ourique tour because we wanted something off the beaten track. We did not want to go to the usual tourist traps and learn about the things we could learn about in the guidebooks. We were not disappointed. Filipa took us to the market where we saw raw ingredients; we ate appetizers from octopus salad to game croquettes; we tasted wines; we had "the best chocolate cake in the world" (trademarked) and amazing custard pastries. The best thing about this tour was that it was done in a relaxed, unhurried, and personal manner--like old friends meeting to chat while walking around town. Filipa also gave us great information about other parts of town/restaurants/stores to visit that we followed. Here, too, we were not disappointed. We kept her map as a constant reference throughout our trip. This tour was a wonderful experience, and we were very thankful that Filipa helped us to experience Lisbon more like a native than a tourist. Do this tour first.

Before I ordered my street art tour I was aware of the reputation of Lisbons street art, but I wasn't expecting to get amazed that much as I did during this trip. We were a nice little group who were interested in street art, so it made the communication really easy and interesting between us. We were picked up by our very charming guide Jose´ in his van and drove out of the city center where we were introduced to most amazing street art I have ever seen in Europe. Thanks to Jose´s very friendly, warm and down to earth attitude, I enjoyed my tour very much. His engagement in street art was genuine and he had very friendly approach to the locals where we have seen the most of the street art. That was specially important since we were taken to the earlier "troubled" neighborhood. This was a perfect way of exploring the Lisbons other faces. I would very highly recommend this tour to everyone who is interested in having a different approach to Lisbon!

Our family of 4 adults cannot say enough good things about this trip. Zay, our guide, was unbelievable. Before arriving in Lisbon, I had mentioned a particular tribute that we were interested in seeing. I didn't think this was possible but when we showed up, he had arranged to see this piece. And it was fantastic. We saw so many impressive pieces of artwork. If you've never seen the type of murals and paintings that Lisbon is so famous for, be prepared to be blown away. And Zay was very impressive. He took use to several locations and explained the stories and history behind many of the pieces which added to the experience. We were also impressed with how respectfully he interacted with the locals in the neighbourhood where we saw the most artwork. I would also like to give a shout out to the terrific people who were on our tour...Ian, Alex and Vera. We had a lot of fun with them! Highly, highly recommend this tour.

We spent four days in lovely Lisbon and amongst all of the beauty and fun, this was definitely the highlight. We met Igor in Bairro Alto (super easy to get to) and went on the coolest city art tour with Igor. Igor is very nice, cool, knows the city and has great knowledge and stories about the street art. The bonus was that we got to see a lot of cool places in Lisbon that we would never have gotten to see as tourists. So much fun and we got some really cool pics to show off.
I'm not sure how many guides do this tour but if you can, go with Igor - trust me, he is a gem!

A really great study of street art in Lisbon. If you want to travel around Lisbon and take Instagram pictures in front of the biggest/most iconic street art in Lisbon, this isn't your tour. But if you want something that helps you understand the cultures of Lisbon's various neighborhoods and street art as an art form better, this is definitely the tour for you. The tour felt thoughtful and deliberate, with themes from the beginning growing and intertwining as the tour progressed. The diversity of styles and artists was great. So too was getting a sense of the various neighborhoods we visited.

This tour felt personal. We had a lot of back and forth conversation with our guide that you just wouldn't get on most other tours. It really made for a wonderful few hours and a nice close to our time in Lisbon.

My husband and I wanted to do a short excursion outside of Lisbon, and we were very lucky that we had heard about Joao. We wanted to do a short trip to Obidos, and it was very easy to arrange with him. He was responsive, punctual and organised. In addition to Obidos, Joao recommended that we visit Peniche as well - we appreciated this recommendation, since the place was beautiful and not something that we would have otherwise known about (even though we partially live in Lisbon). If we had more time, we also would have liked to visit a vineyard that Joao recommended.

His English is excellent, and he is overall very informative. We liked that he let us be "independent" and wander around Obidos, stop for food, sightseeing, etc - the tour was informative but not too rigid and formal.

We were lucky to have Joao take a couple of Australians to see Tapada and Mafra for a full day outing. We were picked up without fuss at out Lisbon apartment and we must say he drove very responsibly so we felt very much at ease!

As well as the main attractions Joao had some quirky little places to drop by to add to the experience.

We had a sumptuous "typical' lunch at a place we would never have tracked down ourselves. Our main aim was to see the Palace at Mafra (the name-sake of my hometown Maffra in Australia) which is a remarkable building, again with its own character and stories.

Joao had been an excellent and attentive host with broad interests and knowledge and we will look forward to more adventures, meals and story sharing with him.

I went with my father on this tour. It was amazing! For anyone who is still doubting whether they should do this tour or not: do it!! This tour shows you all the cultural aspects of the hidden treasures in Lisbon. Some history, laughs, room for questions.. And especially the food. It was really good. Really good quality! The tour operators are such sweet people. I am a vegetarian, and immediately after I booked the tour I got a mail from Pedro. He asked me what I do eat and what I don't, so they could make a menu for me. In total we got 6 different stops. They were all very unique. I'm not going to tell all the secrets, for that you should go on the tour.

If you're into local street art and discovering hidden parts of the city, definitely take this tour! We had a lovely time with Igor on our first day in Lisbon! Igor is a chill and open individual who seemed thoroughly plugged into the Lisbon arts scene. We wanted an experience that was a little off the beaten path, and Igor definitely delivered with lots of interesting and hidden parts of the city that we would have never discovered on our own. Igor even spent extra time with us at the end of the tour to take us to a wonderful somewhat secret bar in a beautiful building that is more of a local hang out spot -- -- it's been one of our favorite places to eat so far.
