This is one of the oldest art museums in Slovenia. It houses some of the most beautiful artworks from middle ages to the post-first-world-war era. It also houses interesting temporary exhibitions, lectures and concerts. It has recently been renovated and the permanent exhibition now includes much more works, and the space shines in all its glory.
When one walks through the silent halls, admiring works and imagining the stories behind the spectacular paintings, one is overwhelmed by a special feeling of tranquillity. It is definitely a place for an artistic soul. The collection of paintings from 1900-1918 is beautiful and for lovers of French impressionists.
The Gallery now includes a café, which is known for the best cakes in Ljubljana. And children can enjoy a hunt with gallery elf Gal.
