Which tour to the Cotswolds would you recommend? We would be staying in London but want to venture out for a day trip.

Definitely a self-drive would be the most economical and flexible too, but we are not planning to drive as this trip is planned for this coming Dec and we have no winter driving experience at all.

The bigger tours eg Premium Tours are cheaper (GBP92), a small group tour by International Friends is about GBP145 (max 16) and if we look at Tours By Locals, the cheapest I could find came up to GBP195! Of course, this is for a party of 4. Looks like the going rate is significantly higher in London. In Amsterdam, we went with a boutique tour company, small group of 10 max, for a 10 hr tour of the windmills that cost only 100 euros per person.

Interesting to note that Premium Tours and International Friends seem to be going to the same places in the Cotswolds and probably the same pub for lunch too! The itinerary from Tours By Locals look more interesting and I am drawn to that as I haven't been with a large tour group for ages. But at the same time, I feel faint when I look at the amount of money I would have to spend for 4 persons! Of course, I have only seen a fraction of available tours in London.

Appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.

Some ideas here, with some tours around £45 pp.

Many collect you from Moreton in Marsh station, which is about 1.5 hrs from London Paddington. you'd still see the countryside go past and probably in a bit more comfort than from a road vehicle too.

You can plan your journey at www.nationalrail.co.uk and use the station codes PAD and MIM. I found tickets from £6 each way.

Many thanks, Nick. These are excellent suggestions. Yes, I love train journeys and that would be something to look forward to as well. I am going happily to explore the websites you have thoughtfully given. Thanks again!
