An oyster card or a travel card?

(1 answer)
By An Inactive User Traveller June 16, 2017

Hello,
I will be going to London in August and I've been looking up on how to travel as cheap as possible. I will be there for 10 days so I'll be using the Tube every day for more than once.
I've been reading and there seem to be 2 types of cards available: the Oyster card and the travel card. Which one do you think is more convenient for my situation?
Thank you all!

oyster card is the actual card, travel card is the plan you go on. london is divided into zones if you are going to be in certain zones then i suspect travel card would be cheaper for over a certian number of journeys however if you are going to take unplanned trips to different places and different zones pay as you go has a cap of how much you pay. compare the zonal travel card price with the pay as you go cap depending on the number of trips and zones you will cross to find the cheaper one.

i'll be doing trips all around london for the 10 days so i think oyster is the way to go! thank you so much
i think if you want the cheapest fares then a conactless payment card would be cheaper.
