Hello! I am planning a visit to Lyon during the Light Festival in December. How crowded does the city get during that period? I hardly found a hotel in Bron, will it be difficult to find taxis around? Thank you!!

If you don't have a car, give a try to Hotel du College, it's perfectly located in Le Vieux Lyon, but sure it's not far ahead so...

Thank you! Public transportation not functioning - do you mean metros dont work?😱
The city get really crowded during the festival. Usually people start booking hotel a year before the date.
Public transportation are not really functioning for the duration of the events and people are all counting on the taxi and uber.
Maybe you should try to book a taxi before or try to find an airbnb or another hotel closer from Hôtel de Ville (on the Presqu'île, Lyon 2).
Sorry I couldn't help you more.

Well, my hometown being at just 30mn cardrive, I sure attended it a few times, but like most of my homies I avoid it now, it is ultra crowded, you have to get in the center early in order to find a place to park your car, it's like a minimum half day, usually , one parks his car then hang around and chill in cafes, it's all about walking across the center to admire shows anyway, lots of pips on terraces, a few troubles here and there ( nothing dodgy but I tend to prefer to hang out not alone those days) I actually may attend it this year ( if I'm still in France: I work in hotels across the world) because a friend from Belgium just settled down and never attended it , plus it cancelled last year because of the Bataclan shooting in Paris, most of events across big cities were cancelled for a couple of months...So I'm thinking, maybe I should attend, it's been a while. La Fête des Lumières is THE showcase for everything new about light animation, this event has been duplicated everywhere, Moscou, Sydney, all across the globe. Regarding accommodation, Bronis outside the city, it's a business/ college suburb, not lively, there may be some metro to reach city center, will you have a car ?
