Kemijärvi is located in the eastern part of Lapland, mainly north of the Arctic Circle. The city has a population of 7,370. The city center is surrounded by Kemijärvi, Pöyliöjärvi, and Finland's largest river, the Kemijoki River, as well as the dozens of hills, which bring a lot of space to the city's image. The area of Kemijärvi is 3,930.91 km².
Why you should visit it
Finnish Settlers arrived in Kemijärvi at the beginning of the 17th century, the Sámi moved further to the north. There were disputes between the Settlers and the Sámi, because the area was the borderland of Lapland. Taivaan Tulet (2007 - 2014) is a fiction drama series, between an Imaginary and a real world, with events taking place in Kemijärvi.
