Utsjoki (Ohcejohka) is the northernmost municipality in Finland, the province of Lapland. The municipality is inhabited by 1215 people and covers an area of 5370.5 km2. The settlement is mainly concentrated along the border river between Finland and Norway, River Tenojoki. Utsjoki is the only municipality in Finland with a Sámi-speaking majority.
The banks of the Teno and its tributaries have been inhabited for thousands of years. There are several Stone Age settlements in the municipality of Utsjoki. For a long time, the Sámi were the only inhabitants of the area. At present, about half of the residents of the municipality of Utsjoki speak Sámi as their mother tongue.
Utsjoki was formed as an independent municipality in 1876.
