Why locals love it

With it's many theatres and cinemas, along with hundreds of shops and restaurants, this is known as the Spanish version of New Yorks legendary Broadway. Starting from the beautiful Plaza España, breaking at buzzing Plaza Callao and ending at the Madrid-iconic Metropolis Building. This street is alive at any time - day or night.

Why you should visit it

To walk Gran Vía is like a free tour of spectacular architecture, where many buildings are inspired by the old New York. From beautifully decorated hotels to business headquarters and shining brand stores. Here you can experience a big-city feeling found few places in Europe, and havde hours of free entertainment.

Special tip

From the top floor of El Corte Inglés at Plaza del Callao, you have an amazing view down this busy street.

Main commercial street in Madrid. Dozens of big names shops. But very crowded most times of the year.

True. I'm not a fan of the crowds and the shops. Mainly the architecture. It's best to walk here during work hours.
