Running tour (6k) - Must see Madrid - Sol, Plaza Mayor, Prado and more

Running is a great way to see a city and I will ensure you have a great time while visiting Madrid. This tour covers most parts of the city centre and it will give you a great insight in how the city is laid out and how the different neighbourhoods are connected.
Duration 1.5 hours
Private tour available in English, Swedish
Private tour pricing from 35 EUR per person
Group tour available in English
Group tour pricing from 60 EUR per person
I moved to Madrid recently and I did not have the chance to explore the city. So I signed up for the 6k run, hoping to see the highlights. Despite the rain we did the tour and it was a great experience. We saw the major attractions in Madrid while exercising. It was Sunday morning so it was relatively quiet- which was good. Ulrik was an excellent guide, enthusiastic and professional! Not only he shared historical facts but he also gave tips of places to go to eat and drink which was highly appreciated. I highly recommend this run for both tourists and new-comers to Madrid. It is an alternative way to see the city; you exercise, you meet people and you learn a lot!

Highlights

Royal Palace of Madrid and Almudena Cathedral and history of Madrid

Plaza Del Humilladero and tips to all the bars and resturants in La Latina

Museum distric with Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen-Bornemisza

Description

During the run we will cover a lot of various topics such as history, art, restaurants, bars etc. Because we’re a small group (maximum 8 people) then it’s easy to ask questions and the guide will do their best to help where possible with recommendations and tips to ensure you’re having a great time while visiting Madrid.
During the run we will do a full stop at some of the attraction so you have time to take some photos and the guide will share some information. Some other attractions which we pass on the way will be covered while we run between the stops. The guide will also point out some attractions that are further afield, so you know where they are if you want to visit them on your own later. We won’t enter any of the museums, churches etc. during the run but they’re all worth their own visit.
Madrid is a busy city, and this will be reflected in the speed we run at and we will keep the same speed as the slowest runner in the group. If someone in the group feels they want to run a bit faster or longer than there is chance to do that at a couple of places during the tour.

Probably the best way to be introduced to Madrid!

The sporty way to discover Madrid
Starting at 09:30 in the morning, we still had a rather empty city and a mild climate, enabling us to jog peacefully through this beautiful city. Our running guide Ulrik made a stop every 5-10 Minutes, explaining to us the history of certain areas or buildings, showed us beautiful spots, hidden bars and secret locations. He was extremely nice and stopped every time we wanted to make a picture, also he had a very relaxed and easy going way :) Would recommend everyone who wants to see the most important sights in the city, in a very relaxed morning Jog with a fun twist.
The best way to do a city tour!
I first did the 9k with Ulrik, and since I liked it very much and got a lot more insights of the city, I decided to bring a friend of mine who’s visiting the city instead of doing a conventional city tour with her! This time we did the 6k a little bit later in hhe morning, and I can say both tours are great, for beginners and advanced, since there isn’t a lot of elevation and the speed is moderate. Just very recommendable!
