Much like surrounding beaches of Tamarin Bay and Great Black River, La Preneuse isn't protected by the coral reefs so there are strong currents moving on the coastline. However, La Preneuse offers white thin sand which makes it very popular among locals on weekends.

La Preneuse is close to the Great Black River embarkation point for boat tours to Western islands, due to frequent presence of dolphins in the area. You can easily spot them in the morning on La Preneuse beach. The beach also has one of the few remaining Martello Towers from the British Empire and it hosts a museum (Rs80 entrance fee.)
If you do a boat tour, walk from embarkation on the coastline up to La Preneuse on your way back.
