Why locals love it
Let’s face it, if you didn’t want to see some of Australia’s famous quirky wildlife while visiting, it’s only because you’ve seen it before! Everyone loves a kangaroo, not to mention dingos, wallabies, koalas, wombats and echidnas. If it’s a strange animal, chances are it lives in Australia (let’s not even start on the snakes!).

Why you should visit it
Healesville Sanctuary is a great place to get up close to some Australian wildlife in a quality simulation of its native environment. You’ll have a chance to feed kangaroos, marvel at koalas, and possibly even be swooped by an eagle (but don’t expect to hold a koala, they care about the animals too much to let everyone do that here).
Special tip
Don’t miss the Sanctuary’s bird show, it’s a once in a lifetime experience, and well worth the wait to the scheduled running time
