Melbourne is full of arts and culture, but La Mama is a true Melbourne institution. Founded in 1967, this tiny little theatre has been home to some of the biggest moments in contemporary Australian theatre. Even Cate Blanchett performed here back in the day!

Why you should visit it
Melbourne has one of the most vibrant independent arts scene of any city in Australia - perhaps even in the world! But unlike in Europe, our artists don't get much support from the government. Spare yourself the $100+ you'd pay for a musical, and come and see something much more interesting!
