See what Life's Like on the Sea

Why locals love it

Explore a real, century-old ship preserved in the heart of Melbourne: there is the opportunity to walk inside the heart of the ship and learn first-hand about maritime trade and the seafaring world. As an island, shipping was one of the main connections between Australia and the rest of the world, and the Polly Woodside pays tribute to this legacy.

Why you should visit it

As one of the best-preserved ships in the world, the Polly Woodside is an educational as well as an exciting place to visit. On the first Sunday of each month, children can come dressed as pirates and search for hidden treasure. Inside a nearby original shipping shed there is also an interactive Gallery. Open daily during school holidays.

Special tip

There is a joint entry ticket with the Old Melbourne Gaol which is cheaper than buying tickets to both attractions separately.
