I'll be staying in Melbourne for most of the month of February 2019. I love taking photos, soaking in the atmosphere (places where locals go), reading (libraries, fun bookstores), experiencing culture (museums, theatres), having good food (seafood, street food), and enjoying the outdoors (parks, nature, hiking). Please share about anywhere or anything you recommend me to do (: Thank you!

You might want to escape the heat (or possible rain - who knows!) by checking out the State Library - it's currently under renovation so doesn't look as exciting as usual from the front but there are still loads of gorgeous rooms inside. Embiggens bookshop behind QV (very close to the library) is a great little bookshop with a cafe inside that's just that little bit out-of-the-way and super cool.

I will never stop recommending the National Gallery (NGV) - it's totally world-class! And another perfect place to escape the heat - they also have a garden which they occasionally turn misters on in the summer, and sometimes host weekend live music - check their website for what's on over summer (the summer blockbuster exhibition is the Escher x nendo exhibit that's been going around the world and looks amazing - the free collection is also top-notch).

For local vibes I recommend taking a stroll through Brunswick Street (Fitzroy - for bars and shopping), Smith Street (Collingwood - for quirky bars and food), Sydney Road (Brunswick - for pubs and op shops) and High Street (Northcote/Thornbury - for all of the above plus cute local shops) - the food truck park Welcome to Thornbury is always a fun time in the summer too.

I second all of the other suggestions below - there's so much to do in Melbourne at any time of year!

Hi. It will be very hot some days. Over 38 degrees, I suggesr finding a cool place, it may be unpleasant even at the Melbourne beaches, due to the north wind. Better at a pool.
I also suggest that you go the the Royal Botanical gardens for beautiful photos.
Melbourne is famous in Australia for its laneways, and the quality of our coffee in Italian shops.
Use online recommendations like TripAdvisor.
It may rain but when the sun shines, it will be strong, cover up.

Hi. Great time of year. Although it will be a little hot.

Melbourne is famous for its laneways and hidden bars. Laneways with street art like ac/dc lane and hosier lane.

There are the night markets all through summer which is gray for all sorts of food and music.

Great hike which is close the city is the 1,000 steps about 45 minutes away but really pretty

You should also try a day trip out to the great ocean road which is stunning for photos.

There is an open air cinema in the botanical gardens all through summer as well and dancing and music at Fitzroy gardens.

There are some free concerts and art exhibits around as well so you need to look at sites like what’s on in Melbourne.

Have fun 😄

Hi, I love Melbourne. During our warmer months. I can highly recommend the following places...
Moonlight cinemas
Mornington Peninsula (Mornington, Sorrento, Portsea and maybe Red Hill)
South Melbourne markets (day and night)
Queen Victoria market
St Kilda beach fronts and Acland St
Enjoy ✌🏽
