Subway/STC

A few weeks ago I asked a question about Dia de los Muertos, and I'm excited my trip is coming up so soon! As we make plans, I was wondering about the subway.

My friend has visited Mexico City before but did not take the metro because of warnings about cars for men/cars for women and how busy it gets. I live in New York, so I am completely comfortable with busy trains. I was wondering if it is advisable for non-locals to rely on it to get around, and if there is any need-to-know information that locals have!

Thanks for you help!

Recommendation: Paseo de la Reforma Av. has an open-air expo of human size "Calaveras". TIP. you can take the MetroBus to move along Reforma, it has a good service.

Subway cons: busy
Pros: Quick & I don't think you'll have a problem with the car separation since people will notice you are a tourist, you'll be fine.

Yes! The metro is easy, it is always busy, but nothing you are not used to living in New York.

Just be careful of pickpocketers 😉

I personally do not take the metro, it is not a NYC rush hour kind of metro, and regarding you as a tourist might make you target for pickpockets, if you’re traveling with a woman I would recommend it even less, because of sexual harassment to women. I would recommend you to either use uber or get a taxi (only from companies not from the street) just in case, but you WILL be fine in the metro you won’t die, you’ll just be very uncomfortable.

The subway of Mexico City, is the cheapest and fastest way to derail. Our NY customers have told us that they are well.
