“Not too touristy” Things to do in Miami

Dear Miami locals, my sister and I are traveling to Miami for the second time this November. We have already visited Calle 8, Wynwood, Design District. What other things to do would you recommend? We are planning to rent an accommodation somewhere in downtown, stay away from a loud South Beach, because it seems that apart from sunbathing and clubbing, there is not much things to do there. We are looking more for “ like a local” experience. Thank you!

Hi- You should subscribe to The NEW TROPIC- free newsletter to find out daily what is cool and happening in Miami.. Little Haiti is my favorite area with music, art, shopping, restaurants, cultural center and much more. Allapattah is pretty cool too with bars, drag shows, restaurants, etc.
Downtown is also very much of a happening place.

Great that your staying downtown. Visit the PAMM (Perez Art Museum Miami). It usually has great exhibits, it’s on the bay with great views and a restaurant where you can dine inside our outside by the bay. Also don’t miss South Pointe Park, it is on south beach but in my opinion it’s the best beach in Miami with a beautifully designed park and great views (I just got home fro there!)

Visit Isla Morada for a good day of snorkling and good seafood. Also Oleta River State Park in Miami for kayaking. Another cool place to spend the day is the town of Hollywood which us about 20 miles north of Miami. As for local dining and shopping try Coconut Grove, Miracle Mile, Village of Merrick Park and Dadeland. Plenty of places to have a dinner and drinks in downtown so no recommendations necessary.

Hi Elena! A nice place to go would be the dirty rabbit or Blackbird in Brickell. If you’re feeling artsy try checking out the Perez Art museum 😁

Have dinner in Coconut Grove. Sapore di Mar is delicious Italian seafood but there are many other restaurants.

Also, if you get a rental car, head over to Shark Valley in Everglades National Park and take the tram tour to the tower. It's awesome.
