Pinacoteca di Brera (Brera Art Gallery) is very well known amongst the citizens of Milan, both for its outstanding collection of paintings and its Fine Arts Academy. Several of Italy’s most famous artists and writers graduated from the academy, including Nobel Prize winner Dario Fo.

Why you should visit it

The gallery houses a large collection of masterpieces by Italian and foreign artists dating from the 13th to the 20th century. It was founded in 1776 to assist in the training of Brera Fine Arts Academy students.

There’s a great art bookshop inside the gallery.
