Why locals love it
Pizzeria Dallo Zio is one of the best places in town for pizza al trancio (slices of deep-pan pizza). It’s located in the trendy Lambrate neighbourhood east of the city centre. Scores of creatives and freelancers crowd Zio's rickety tables at lunch and dinner for a large slice of pizza and a beer. The service is friendly and always efficient.
Why you should visit it
There are many good pizzerias in Milan, and Zio is one of the best in the deep-pan category. It’s also really good value with slices starting at €3. Favourite toppings include speck and gorgonzola (cured ham and blue cheese), rocket and porcini mushrooms, and sausage and broccoli.
Special tip
Don't turn up too late at night. Also note that it’s closed for a few hours between lunch and dinner (usually 3–6 pm).
