This is one of the few trattorie (budget restaurants) left in the centre of Milan, located down a hidden backstreet a stone’s throw from via Montenapoleone. It’s only open for lunch and it's always packed with university students and businesspeople. The service is fast, the food is always excellent and the prices are reasonable.
You won’t find anywhere else in the area offering a full meal for €16. Choose from a selection of no-fuss dishes like pasta, risotto and vegetable soups or go for a traditional worker’s favourite like tripe or liver with onion and bollito (boiled meat). Make sure you save some room for dessert – their tiramisù is excellent.
It fills up fast with people on their lunch breaks so try to arrive before 1 pm to secure a table.
