This is a local staple tour. The house was built by James J. Hill who helped build the railroad from Chicago to Seattle. His love of Boston architecture is prominent in the house's design. The tour shows what it was like to be rich in Minnesota while the railroad was being built.

The mansion is impressive with the Sandstone exterior and the intricate wood carvings throughout the house. The tours are led by experts with lots of information.
They do a typical tour and also a nooks and crannies tour which shows different hidden areas of the house.
