Independant shops

(6 answers)
By Lina traveller November 12, 2016

Is there a particular area where there are more independent shops? By that I mean in particular gifts and things made by artists locally. I'm not interested in the world class galleries (which I have plenty of in London!) but the local artistic scene here. :)

Well you can check out Marche Bonsecours in old Montreal. I haven't been there in ages, but you can look online and also walk around Old Montreal which is lovely. There are a lot of cheap tourist stores , but also some native made items.

Hi Lina
Yes there is plenty shop of local artist
Mile end is a good aera for that but you fond find local artist almost everywhere in town
If you come in november and december there is also lot of christmas market around town.
My favorite one is the one held by la SAT (societe des arts technologiques) . If you go on their website there is a link to see the artists paticipating at the Souk a la Sat event. Youll find a great list of local artists with links to their websites.
Hope this was helpfull, felle free to contact me if you're looking for something more specific.
Best regards

I would recommend you to checke out plateau and mile end area, you can find many small contemporary art work or really cool artisanal stuff. Moreover, if you're interested, there are a lot of antique shops in which you can find really interesting things!
