British gastro pub
meets local fare
Why locals love it
Operating as a pub and restaurant, Taverne Gaspar is where you will find the locals enjoying a bite and a cold drink in the otherwise touristy Old Port. You’ll uncover comfort food with an upscale twist and old-fashioned drinks amid exposed stone walls, making for a cavern-like feel. In summer, a terrace opens up out front near the water.
Why you should visit it
Taverne Gaspar serves up a tasty bone marrow onion soup, beet and goat cheese Carpaccio, ribs slathered in Jim Beam BBQ sauce, fish n’ chips, and a burger topped with pork belly. For drinks, try the Gaspar lager, their house brew. They also have many bourbon choices (11 labels, to be precise) and a good selection of cocktails.
Wednesday nights are for live music, while a DJ spins tracks every Thursday evening. A late-night menu is served from Thursday to Saturday as of 10pm.
