Back to the past: Soviet walking tour
People all around the world have heard a lot about the USSR, Stalin and Lenin, the Second World war and the Cold war. If you are interested in history this tour is exactly for you.
My name is Julia and I have worked as a guide for many years.
Before this job my friends and I founded Foodbank in Russia. It was a really nice experience to help all the people in need. Now I still take part in not-profit events. And sometimes my tourists call me “mom” maybe because I am too worried about everything and I like to take care about everybody. So if you have small kids or you can't walk a lot, you will be fine with me - I am very flexible person.
I live in a truly Soviet-style apartment and love cooking, and if you want you can be my guest and I can cook for you, which will give you a better idea of Russian local life, than just Red Square and vicinity;)
Also, I am a writer and dream to finish my book one day. I love traveling, especially around Russia because this country is really the biggest in the world, and I have changed locations from Siberia to Saint Petersburg. I was born in one the coldest places in Russia and once I experienced minus 69, it was extremely unpleasant. Here in Moscow the weather is humid, so winters are also quite cold, but as this is my favorite time of the year I can make the best impressions for you in “off-peak” season.
I love the English language. You know, when I was 12 years old I was the worst in my class, but then we got another teacher and she motivated me so much that I couldn't stop anymore. When I finished my school I already had a certification from Cambridge university with Advanced level. And as my another passion is history, one day I realized that I should become a tour guide, and it was the best decision of my life:)
Fun facts about me:
1. I was a ballet dancer for 8 years (and hated classic music with all my heart, but now I am in love with opera)
2. I love basketball and in school I played on the best team my town (I also swimming and climbing, I was a really crazy kid)
3. I am in love with pastry and this is easy to see on me :D
4. I have changed apartments 15 times in my life and none of them had a good oven!
5. I love running and walking a lot, once I walked 48 km and it is my personal record.
Can't wait to see you here and show you around!

I have dealt with multiple guides worldwide and Julia definitely stands out.
As the leader of our group, Julia impressed me from the moment we met. She immediately listened and adapted the visit plan to my specific preferences and to the diverse and challenging needs of our group — adults of all ages and a child.
From that moment on, she expertly led us through the extra crowded metro system to visit all requested sites in an optimal order, using her impeccable organizational and logistical skills.
Her expertise allowed us to optimize our day, intelligently whizzing through this maze to multiple sites spread out all over this large city.
She masters 5 essential skills that made our time with her memorable:
1- A true Passion - for her city its history, and its contemporary aspects,
2- A deep Dedication - to satisfying her customers with warmth and attention,
3- An impressive Capability to Adapt - to the specific needs of her customers,
4- A great Historical Knowledge - paired with today’s affairs in all subjects,
5- An excellent set of organizational and soft leadership skills.
We adored her!
