Where the past and the future collide...

White Square (Belaya ploschad)

Why locals love it

Yes, it wasn't mistyped. White square. Not the Red one :) It's an extremely inspiring place, where two huge contemporary style buildings share a square with a small orthodox ("old believers", to be precise) church.

Why you should visit it

To see the marvellous view where two giant modern buildings press onto a tiny innocent white church. In addition the square itself is worth visiting – it's cozy and picturesque, there is a fountain and a pedestrian zone. Also, there are a bunch of strange human-form statues without faces standing nearby. They are representing modern citizens:)

Special tip

There are a lot of cafes and restaurants over there. You can enjoy this place drinking coffee/wine in a comfortable armchair.
