Chor Bazaar
Chor Bazaar12
Why locals love it
Chor Bazaar means “Thieves’ Market.” Encompassing parts of Mutton Street, Bapty Street and Khara Tank Road, it’s the biggest flea market in Mumbai, and a great place to find antique and vintage items. The experience of navigating Chor Bazaar is quite unique, as are some of the items available.
Why you should visit it
You'll find old Bollywood posters and lobby cards (A-One Corner), original railway lights (Taherally's), antique ship equipment (The Hesperius), nineteenth century animal masks, erotic miniatures and armor (Old Art), carefully restored carved wooden doors from Rajasthan and Gujarat (Just & Fair Mart), and lots more.
Special tip
Offer a fifth of the price quoted to you, then haggle aggressively. If you end up paying a third of the price quoted, you’ve haggled like a local. ;)
