The Flaucher is a favorite of Munich's locals: an area of pebbled shores along the river, which has been widened and partially diverted to provide more space for people to enjoy the location. It's a spot to cool down in the chilly alpine waters of the Isar, to grill out in the open with a few beers, or just to sit and enjoy the summer weather.

Get a feel for local life, beyond the beer halls. Plus, it's just a great spot to cool down in the summer heat of the city. It's free, easily accessible by bike or public transport, and is open to grilling for those who have access to one. If not, visitors can pick up a snack at the little Flaucher house, or a meal at the Zum Flaucher Biergarten.
Bring flipflops, or ever better, water shoes to traverse the beach and splash in the river. Walking on the stones barefoot is not comfortable!
