Hello, I'll be in Munich with my friends, we want to go to Oktoberfest on Saturday morning but we couldn't get reservations. Is it possible to wait in line, and how early we need to arrive in line? How does that work? Thank you so much for answers. :)

Like others have said, you'll have to arrive preeeetty darn early to get a spot for 5 people. I say aim for getting there a little after 7 to be safe. You never know how big the crowds will be for opening day until it starts, but it tends to be massive. I arrived around 9 I think in 2014 (the only year I've been to opening day) and I didn't know I'd actually have a spot until we were let in since I was so far back in the line. I don't suggest that. If you go early, you'll know you'll get a spot. No anxiety or missed chances that way.

Hi :) Yes, reservations usually end in March :D everything is possible, but it is a long proccess :D If you come in the morning, better chances (before 11am).
You can just go and take a free space, the tables are big, everybody sit like a family, so everybody will fit!
Have fun!

And if you get into a tent that early please do not make the mistake to already have 5 beer until noon ;) you won't feel well.

Hi Ana, Oktoberfest starts on Saturday noon. So if you want to join the begin, you have to come very early. About 8 in the morning and then standing in line to wait for getting in the tents. Don't hesitate to write again in case of any questions ;)

I have one more. If I'm going in a group of 5, do we all need to be in line all the time, or can 2 go earlier and other join later? 😊

You should all stand together. If the tent is too crowded, no one will get access anymore.

You need to be all complete in the group. The argument that your Friends are already inside will not count to the door keepers. And use always only the toilets inside the tent. If you leave it, no chance to get in again if it is full. Good alternative when good weather are the multiple beergardens next to the tents-but no comparison to the atosphere.
Hey Ana, if you like to visit on of the big tents you should be there really early for Anstich about 7 in the morning...

Oktoberfest starts this Saturday at noon, so no early morning entries in tents on this day :)

On the opening day there is hardly any chance to get into tents without reservations.

On any other day: It used to be like this, that if you wait outside at around 6-7 AM then you may have a chance to get inside the tents. But with all the added securities measurements I don't know if they let people on the festival premises this early.

During the weekdays it is easier, especially in the afternoon. Then you just show up and go in any tent you like.

Inside the tents, just be careful that some tables are reserved for certain times and some are "free" on a first-come-first-serve basis.

I hope that helped at least a bit.

On the 30th the tents will be open at 9 AM. It's only on the opening day that the tents open so late.
