Stachus
Why locals love it
This square's original name is Karlplatz but as the locals didn't want to say out loud the name of the former ruler Karl, they decided to rename this square after the most popular pub on it - Stachus. Today it serves as transportation hub and gate to the main shopping streets.
Why you should visit it
On hot summer days the big fountain can be a nice way to cool down or to sit down and have an ice cream there. In winter times there is an ice skating rink. After remodeling the metro station they even set up a little shopping center in the underground.
Special tip
Hipsters watch out for the temporary pop-up stores in the underground shopping center.
