What is the best way to get to Vesuvio and Pompeii in one day using a bus/train?

We will spend 4 days in Napoli. One od them we would like to reserve for Pompeii, but also like to visit Vesuvio. We're just wondering if it is reasonible and trying to find out the best connections from Garibaldi to reach both places in one day

If you would like to see the ruins of Pompeii you have to take the Circumvesuviana (old train) from Garibaldi Station. Take the (blue) line to Sorrento and get off at the stop of Pompei Scavi Villa dei Misteri. A few meters therefrom you will find the entrance of the ruins. This trip will take you less than 1 hour.

From Pompeii you can take a bus to Mount Vesuvius when it is accessible.
