Why locals love it

The San Carlo Theatre is considered one of the greatest temples of opera and ballet in Italy. What’s more, its beauty and spectacular performances rival the best in the world. This Naples landmark is impeccably kept; its history and splendour being a source of pride among locals.

Why you should visit it

Upon visiting San Carlo, Stendhal said: “There is nothing in all of Europe comparable to this theatre, that gives the slightest idea of what it is like. It dazzles the eyes, enraptures the soul”. Located in the centre of Naples between the Royal Palace and Galleria Umberto I, it’s a sight that will amaze you with its beauty.

Special tip

When buying tickets, try asking to attend the scheduled rehearsals. Maybe you’ll be lucky!

The oldest continuously active venue for public opera in the world, opening in 1737.Tthe typical Italian style theatre, very impressive and high-impact, definitely a place not to be missed in the city.
