Walking in the clouds
Why locals love it
Mount Vesuvius is one of the most iconic symbols of Naples. Despite being quite challenging, many locals and visitors face the long walk to enjoy the almost lunar landscape at the top. Besides seeing the fascinating crater of one of the world's most famous volcanoes, you can enjoy beautiful views of the Bay of Naples with the city at your feet.
Why you should visit it
Coming to Naples and not visiting Vesuvius is like going to Rome and not seeing the Colosseum. If you’re energetic enough and have the appropriate clothing, you can reach the mouth of the volcano and enjoy wonderful views, all the while imagining the eruption that destroyed Pompeii.

Don’t come here when it’s too hot – try to visit in milder weather.
