II'm travelling alone in New York, is it possible to hire someone local to take photos of me whilst doing the Ghostbuster locations tour. I don't want people to steal my mobile while they taking in the photo

If you look up 'NYC experiences" on the Airbnb website a lot of people have listings for personal photography around the city.

If you are on a tour with other people in a group i think its safe to give your cell phone to another member of the tour for pics or to a tour leader or guide of the group. If you are out n about solo give your cell to an older looking couple or someone who also appears to be a tourist. The bottom line is use common sense and good judgement that works for me when i travel.

Hi Paul. Welcome to my fair city! It's very unlikely that anyone will steal your cell phone (New York is extremely safe), but when will you be here and how long is the Ghostbuster locations tour?

I work, so I can't help you, but maybe post on CouchSurfing and you can find another Ghostbusters fan to do the tour with you? Then you get the added bonus of making a new friend!
Since you're traveling alone, look for other tourists with phones taking pictures. Also look for New York couples. Honestly, New York is a much safer place than it once was. I'm always taking photos of people. You'll probably find other "Ghostbuster" fans. As someone else wrote, just use the same common sense you'd use at home.

If you're on a tour, there should be other people taking the same pictures. Asking someone to take a photo is very common in most tourist cities, certainly it is in New York. Ask someone who has a phone like yours if possible, and who you see taking photos. That means they have their own phone already. Most New Yorkers are friendly. I can't claim that there aren't thieves in the city, but use good judgement and enjoy.
