Hello! I am looking for a reliable and affordable taxi company in NY, that allows you to pre-book for pick-ups from Newark Airport? Please let me know which service you locals use!

UBER, LIFT, and VIA (The cheapest) will all give you a ride from EWR, they all have a huge fee now for the airport charge and as there are 3 levels, it is both confusing for the drivers and also for you if you are being picked up and not familiar with EWR.

Quick ride from Chinatown is one of the best/most affordable, but they do not always speak english perfectly. They will be a lot cheaper than Carmel. The problem is that there is a fee for pick-ups charged by the EWR and also a fee for the Cab drivers that go between NY/NJ charged at the tunnel or bridges into the city. If you are mostly thinking about cost, then try the Olympus bus and then take a taxi. That will by far be the cheapest. I would not suggest the shuttle bus, because they will only leave once they are completely full for the particular zone they are filling in. I waited nearly an hour 1x. Also, they can have like 12 drop offs and if you are not the first, this means you can have the ride extended quite a lot.

I always us Carmel Limo. They are one of the oldest airport pickup companies in NYC. They have an app that you press after you get your bags and you meet them right in front of the terminal. Uber airport pickup is technically illegal so they have you take a tram to the parking lot. Also, if you do not have phone service you risk being left and still charged. I like Carmel, you can even call them for free in the airport terminal and you can schedule rides far in advance.

App based, on-demand taxi services like Uber (worldwide), Lyft (USA), Ola (India) Yandex (Russia), Didi Chuxing (China) have made this question moot. I travel for work all over the world (on an expense account) and I still use these services because they are more efficient, more convenient AND more affordable.

You won’t need to pre-book, Uber is plentiful and the most comfortable way to go if you have luggage.

I walk to work and never take cabs. Sorry!!! Yellow Cabs are available everywhere, all the time. There's also Uber. I believe cabs going to/from Newark, JFK, and LGA have flat rates. There are also car services like Carmel and Dial7. I've used both. Don't like Carmel at all. Dial7 is fine. Enjoy NYC!!!

You could use the shuttle. There are different companies. I use supershuttle under $20 if I remember correctly. Its a shared ride in a mini van with other passengers.

Yellow cab is the oficial taxi company in NYC. You will find the line of taxis at the taxi rank by the airport exit. The rates to Manhattan are fixed. U can also install an Uber app and order a car. But new yorkers always use yellow cab.

USE CARMEL CAR SERVICE. You can prebook and they wait for you even if your flight is delayed. I do it every time and it's super convenient. Believe you don't wanna be taking buses.

Carmel Car Service carmellimo.com. There's an app too. They have the best rates from the airport with different car sizes.
Once in the City if you want to be picked up and taken to a certain destination use Uber. And if you just wanna hop in a cab while you're walking around the Yellow Cabs are reliable.

There are no affordable pre-book taxis from Newark but there are shuttle buses. If you want a taxi, there is a line and flat rate. There is Uber. Hundreds are available each hour so there's just no reason to pre-book. Besides what if your plane is delayed?

Thank you for your help! I guess queuing for the taxi rank may be the best option. Do you know if there are bigger cars in the taxi rank (for 4 passengers)? I assume these also cost slightly more?
