What are some good spots to watch the fireworks for 4th of July?

I will be visiting NYC for 4th of July weekend, and I'm looking for somewhere to watch the fireworks. I would love to find a relatively cheap (or free) location that has a great view, but I know everywhere will be super crowded. Are there some great views to watch the fireworks? I've been looking online, but since the fireworks are being set off near the Brooklyn Bridge this year, I'm not finding many results that apply for 2019. Any advice regarding this event is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I'm not the best person to answer, as I prefer to watch on TV. But, remember while the best views are along the East River with the Brooklyn Bridge as a focal point, as long as you have a clear view of the sky, you'll see the show. All the "best views" will be crowed, of course, but if you're anywhere where you can see the Bridge, even with a few buildings in front, you'll see the show. Also photos of fireworks behind buildings can make great shots. Get a NYC map and draw a line around the area, then head for that. Find a fun bar or park. Of course, you can camp out all day if you like -- some will. Suspect people are selling views from their apartments, but it's best to be outside.

This was very helpful. Thank you so much!
Wish I could be more helpful. It's a great show, even from a distance. Get as close to waterfront in Manhattan or Brooklyn as you can. Unless you're a professional photographer, and want reflections, you don't need to see the River. Enjoy! If you can see the Bridge, you'll see the show.
Unless you have a friend in midtown with an penthouse facing East, join the crowds on the East Side Highway (the FDR) for the cost of a subway ride. I've only done it once in 40 years, but it was fun to be a part of the crowds and the fireworks are worth seeing. Of course, the view from Brooklyn will be equally exciting, but I'm less familiar with that part of town. Do some on-line line research for best views. Just find a clear view of the East River and enjoy.

I used to go to the river around 23 rd steer in Manhattan just under the highway overpass. You can also go across the river to LIC but I’ve never been thamere.

Thank you, Mark. What is LIC?
Thank you. I have visited that website, and it says to check back closer to the day to see where to watch the fireworks. I guess I'm also confused because I don't have any clue as to where the locations are in relation to the bridge. I don't mind being at a distance, but I just expect everything to be super crowded.
