Hi! Honestly, buying Chinatown knockoffs is risky. You get pulled into back rooms filled with the smell of chemicals and the bags are STILL $60-$100 and are garbage. This includes the bags you can get in Harlem. They are all trash and come apart in a month or two. You are better off heading into Brooklyn or to a local designer and buying a brand new bag from a bidding designer. You'll be at the cutting edge of fashion and who knows... you could end up with a $60 bag that is worth $1000's when the designer gets picked up by Bergdorfs. If you really want high end bags- I suggest Poshmark (real bags for 50% off) or eBay.
Honestly, it's not where to find the frauds, but when to risk patronizing them. The New York Department of Consumer Affairs does have enforcement capabilities. Be aware that "Canal Street" is not totally full of knock-offs and cheap products. But those people who whisper "watches watches" and "purses purses" are not offering the genuine version of any product they may have for you to buy. So, do not be surprised when their store gas rushed by enforcement officers when you ask do that Chanel bag.
