Google maps will give you walking, train and bus directions from any address to your destination. It will also direct you to the nearest subway station and bus stop that will get
You where you need to go. For tourists, I always recommend taking the bus, at least some of the time. Being above ground will give you the best view of the city. The subway Ian always faster, but not as interesting. There is an app called MTA BUS TIME, it will guide you through the bus lines in the city.

Honestly, google maps or even the standard map on your smart phone is best. Those are the only ones I use.
Google maps gives directions for driving, transit and walking. Bus checker and subway time will let you know how long until the bus/subway will arrive
Google app is usually very accurate when it comes to transit in NYC. You can also download the New York Subway - MTA Map and route planner. Have fun in the city!
Actually Google Maps provides recommended subway routes if you select the train icon when entering a destination.
CityMapper is a great app for this and will reflect current delays or service changes with estimated waiting ones for some trains and busses.
Google maps works great. Just choose the "public transportation" option as the form of travel. Also, you should allow extra travel time (15+ minutes) because MTA tends to have train issues pretty often.
Not really, but google maps does a decent job. Just make sure to check service changes on the weekend.
Google maps will do this. Once you enter your destination choose the transit button rather than car or walking. Hop Stop is another good app.
I use google maps! it's super easy and you can also use the transit app (it's green) to show train/bus times in a particular area of choice
Google Maps if you want to enter point A to point B for subway directions. NYC Subway is just a map and you would need to figure out which stop is closest to where you're starting out from and where you want to get to.
Rome2rio.com has an app that I learned about when I was in Europe but it is also helping me here in NYC. Lately the google maps has been giving me out of the way directions and it does not always calculate easy train switches. The website or app on Rome2rio calculates every form of transportation, including ride share apps and gives you a price with a secure link to book. I have used this to find buses, subways, and Via, and even my cheap plane tickets. I hope this helps.
Google Maps is best because it takes into account which subway lines are closed, which happens every weekend. The app will show you a route that uses a different working subway line and bypass closed stations.
You have to be careful with Google Maps on the weekends, because it doesn't always account for service changes/lines not running because of repairs. Always double check it's route against the service changes on mta.info.
Hope I haven't missed ya, but try an app called Transit (https://transitapp.com/). Google maps works great, but Transit can actually crowdsource and give you up to date information about the subway lines. That can be crucial since the lines don't ever run on time (except my beloved G train), and if there's a delay the app can alert or redirect you.
Hello, I personally love Google maps, it is very accurate and you can always choose your method of transport (car, bike, public transit, taxi or walk). It automatically selects the best option when you are ready to go for that given choice. Another app that is provided by MTA is TRANSIT and you can also try CITYMAPPER. Hope it helps, all the best Mariana

Google the address you want and it should give you an option for directions by car, train, bus or walking including how much time it will take you to arrive from your location
Thank you guys. My trip is next week and finding my way around think has been my biggest concern. I will def use these suggestions.
Google maps also gives driving, transit and walking directions. Subway time will let you know how much time until the train arrives. Bus checker does the same for buses.
Google maps would work or there is an app called My Transit. The trip planner is in the bottom right corner of the app.
