New York City has a skyline unlike any other in the world. But why should you have to pay an entrance fee to enjoy it? The rooftop café and bar on top of the Metropolitan Museum of Art is free and offers a view competitive to some of the city's most famed viewing decks.

If you are only interested in the view, enter for free (donation recommended) and head straight to the roof to enjoy a cool cucumber mojito atop one of the city’s most prolific museums. If you are culture connoisseur, meander through the exhibitions beforehand to fully appreciate all the museum has to offer.
The viewing deck at the Empire State Building charges entrance and often has a long queue. Plus, its view doesn't include the iconic building itself.
