A book lovers wonderland

The Morgan Library

Why locals love it

The museum consists of Pierpont Morgan’s collection of illuminated, literary, and historical manuscripts, early printed books, and old master drawings and prints. A collection of ancient seals, tablets, and papyrus fragments from Egypt and the Near East are on exhibition showing the earliest evidence of writing. There is a café but it's pricy.

Why you should visit it

The Morgan Library & Museum is the only institution in the world to possess three copies of the Gutenberg Bible, the first substantial book printed from movable type in the West. It is a book lovers wonderland where the focus on the written word, the history of the book, and master drawings has been maintained.
