Description

Come hungry for my mini-tour of the best dumpling spots in Chinatown.

The first stop is Tasty Dumpling. There are both meat and vegetarian dumpling options. It costs $1.25 for 5 dumplings. The scallion pancake is a worth a try, too!

The second spot is Fried Dumpling, just around the corner. The menu is more restricted here, as is seating. The cost for dumplings is $1.50 for 5. Oftentimes the cook is also the cashier, and will only speak Chinese.

The final spot is Namwah Tea House. This is a more traditional restaurant that serves dim sum. The dumplings are a highlight. These run closer to $4 for 5 dumplings, but there are lots of other food options on the menu. Lunch and dinner hours can get busy, so there may be a wait.

Couldn’t have been better!
Evan is the perfect guide. He knows so much, but doesn’t lecture you. His choices for dumplings were amazing. We had the best time. We made our own choices, with his guidance and ate a LOT ! A+++++++
Fab dumplings!
Evan was a great host and introduced us to three dumpling restaurants in NYC - all within a short walk of each other. From traditional pork & chive pot stickers and pancakes through to a full range of dim sum at the famous Nom Wah Tea Parlor, it was a great insider guide. Evan also very generously shared other tips and ideas for our stay in NYC - and very patiently accommodated our 7 month old baby, who joined us for the tour. Thanks Evan!
