Museum Hack: Un-Highlights Tour of the Metropolitan Museum of Art

My daughter and I decided to take this tour to learn things you might not find out on a traditional docent tour of the Met. I don’t want to give anything away but it did not disappoint! Great way to spend a couple of hours in the winter in NYC and see and learn things at the Met even native New Yorkers might not know about.

My friend and I took our other friend out in NYC for the day for her birthday. One of the things we did was the museum hack at the MET. It was so much fun and we had the best tour guide...Frank! He made us laugh and kept the tour interesting and upbeat! Love, love, love Frank and will ask for him again the next time we do a hack. The birthday girl also had a wonderful time, which was the goal!

I was in NYC to celebrate my good friends birthday and she really wanted to spend some time at the Met, but we didn't have all day. Thanks to the great reviews on Trip Advisors we decided to book a Museum Hack tour. Best decision of the trip so far. We met up with Frank by the pharaoh and the fun began. Frank dodged the crowds like a native New Yorker, and soon had us standing in front of a beautiful painting by Lorenzo Lotto: Venus and Cupid. Normally I would have looked at this painting, thought "oh beautiful" and moved along. But Frank took the time to explain the subtext in a way that would make the recently departed Hugh Hefner proud. From there we zig zagged through galleries, viewed art and artifacts, played games, and were the envy of all the people on the boring tours. Finally, Frank claimed he was no expert, but I think I learned more about art, having fun, chasing your dream(even if it includes Lion's in Mexico) in two hours than I ever did in my art appreciation course in college. I can't wait to book a tour of our local museum!
