Why locals love it
Every year in late September torches lights an 8km stretch of the Aker River. Along the way there is everything from art installations to dance performances and flame jugglers. There are even a few cafes selling hot chocolate and waffles.

Why you should visit it
The river is lit from Frysa all the way down to the center of the city. For a shorter walk, start from Nydalen T. It's a child friendly event so be prepared to dodge kids, prams and dogs. Check the website for the program and specific date: http://www.bydel-sagene.oslo.kommune.no/elvelangs/
