This once brown bar (for alcoholics) was restored to its early 20th century glory a few years ago. It comes complete with ornate wood paneling and beautiful chandeliers, yet is still down to earth. The menu offers a modern take on traditional ingredients and changes with the seasons. Both á la carte and three-course prix fix menus are available.

Why you should visit it
Stop in during the day for a cup of coffee or later in the evening for a pint or a bite to eat. Gaze at the giant chandeliers hanging above you. Share one of the large wooden tables with some locals. Dinner reservations are recommended on the weekends. If you're there late enough, you may see some of the previous clientele stop in after 12.
Special tip
Locals call it "lompa." The dance club Pigalle is located next door.
