we want to go on a hike using the tram to go to the forest north of town. suggestions for a 10km walk in the woods with a stop at a place to eat half way?

I think the best hike for you will be; Take the tramp to Frognerseteren and walk to Sognsvann and here you can have a svim if the wether is Nice. You can rest and eat ar Ullevålseter

You could take the subway line 3 to Sognsvann and then walk to Ullevålseter and back . It's about 5.5 km one way, and you can buy food and drinks at Ullevålseter every day except from Mondays :)
