Biggest day of the year! Where to be for a Swede?? I have heard about the "carneval" and then? Any good place for lunch??

good luck without a reservation if youre just asking where to dine now :p If youre in the center, you will be waiting for a long time. However, as mentioned below - Grunerlokka has some nice spots.

I recommend Nøkken @ Grünerløkka, they have norwegian food with a twist and not many people know about it so they probably have tables left and it isn't packed (hopefully). :)

The best place to see from the morning is between "Stortinget" and Nationaltheatret - along Karl Johan. Lunch can be difficult, as most of the restaurants will be full, at least in the centre. May be wise to try Grünerløkka or some other area just a small bit outside the very centre
