Best way to meet Oslo locals (when you can't speak the language!)
(3 answers)I'm traveling solo, and hoping to meet some locals on my travels, anything anyone recommends to do so I'm open to. Also fully aware that my limitation of speaking English and at best broken French isn't the best place to start with! Trying to learn the VERY fundamentals of the language (Please/thank you et cetera) before I arrive!

Hey Edd, the language is no barrier at all, when it will be hard to find Norwegians that don't speak english. However, meeting locals might still be a challenge. It can be difficult to make Norwegians open up to you, until they have a few drinks, then it's quite the opposite. I have no specific solution to this problem, other than to try to make conversation and see what happends. Norwegians can be very helpfull, so if you are upfront about your solo situation in Oslo they just might help/hang out. Stay away from downtown, go to Grunerløkka instead.
