Why locals love it
Ottawasup is located way from the main tourist areas on a calm shallow section of the Rideau river. They rent paddle boards and give lessons from a trailer set up on the west end of Billings Bridge. It is an easy walk from the bus station at Billings Bridge Shopping Centre.

Why you should visit it
This is lovely stretch of the river to explore, learn to paddle board, or both. It is in the middle of the city but tree lined. In the spring, summer, and autumn there are duck and geese and (sometimes) swans on the river.
Special tip
Open seasonally and parking may be hard to find nearby. Check their web site for info on where to park and opening hours.
