Walk the grounds of Canada's Home

Rideau Hall

Why locals love it

Rideau Hall is the Ottawa home of Canada's Head of State the Governor General. It has lovely gardens in spring and summer, movies under the stars some nights, outdoor skating in the winter, and lovely colours in the autumn. Organized tours and self guided tours of the grounds are free. It is one of the few places you can see Cricket in Ottawa.

Why you should visit it

The grounds are shaded by more than 10,000 trees. Many planted by visiting heads of state, royalty, or other dignitaries. You may well find one or more connected to your nation. You will see Canadian items; a totem pole, inuksuk, and the Canadian Heritage Garden. Picnicking is allowed on the grounds.

Special tip
