As you walk through the tunnels of this local underground cemetery dating back to the late 18th century, you get a true sense of the fragility of life and the sadness of loss.
With six million skeletons buried below the city, it’s a one-of-a-kind place. You’ll be fascinated by the way the bones have carefully and respectfully been put to rest. It can be rather intimidating knowing that all the greatness of Paris is above you.
Audio guides are available in French, English and Spanish for €3. There are night tours, but they can be hard to find.
