L'As du Fallafel is known in Le Marais as a classic Israeli street food joint. You can sit inside though it often gets crowded. Falafel is basically a huge sandwich stuffed with fried balls made from chickpeas and fava beans, and veggies such as eggplant, tomato, cucumber and cabbage. The spicy sauce is packed with flavour.

Many Parisians who shop in Le Marais come to rue des Rosiers to eat falafel. As it's typically Middle Eastern, sometimes people are surprised that it can be found in the heart of Paris. One falafel will set you back about €6. The queue can be long but the service is quick.
Falafel is not easy to eat while walking, but don’t worry – everyone does it!
