Located on the 12th district, this eclectic market is known as one of the cheapest of the capitale. This place is fascinating because it's composed of three different parts. First of all the covered market, secondly the flea and bric-a-brac market and then the open-air part dedicated mostly to fruits and vegetables stalls.

Why you should visit it

You feel like being in a village square in the heart of Paris. These kinds of unique places are becoming more and more rare nowadays, especially in the big cities such as Paris. When the weather is nice, it's even more pleasant.

Can't make it more local than this ! People from the neighbourhood have their Sunday appointment with Aligre. The covered market holds both French and foreign specialities (Italy, maghrébine ...) as well as your traditional butcher, baker and cheese shop. Outside are the fruits and vegetables sections : be prepared to try out every single one of them and then want to buy it by the kilo ! A few small stores around will complete your shopping with the obligatory wine. Also, lots of cozy cafes and bars around.
